Selection Process & Exam Pattern

The UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Selection Process comprises three successive stages:

  1. Stage I: Preliminary Examination (Computer Based Test): Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions (400 Marks) to screen candidates for Stage II.
  2. Stage II: Main Examination (Descriptive Type): Written examination consisting of conventional papers (600 Marks) testing core subject knowledge.
  3. Stage III: Personality Test / Interview: Conducted for shortlisted candidates carrying 200 Marks. Final merit is declared based on Stage I, II, and III aggregate scores.
Important Note Before Applying: Candidates must complete the One Time Registration (OTR) process on the UPSC portal before filling out the online application form. Ensure that all uploaded documents, photo (with date and name as per latest UPSC instructions), and signature meet specified guidelines. Final submission must be completed before 22/09/2026, 06:00 PM.
